We Are Precious In His Sight
Psalm 8:1
O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, You who set Your glory above the heavens! (NKJV)
Psalm 139:14
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. (NKJV)
Sometimes, in the overall scheme of things it seems like we really don't matter. It seems that our contributions are small, and the difference we may make in someone else's life, or the world in general, is pretty insignificant.
Let's face it - it is a big world - a VERY big world, and only a few very important people make a difference. That's what Satan would like us to believe, but each one of us has something we can contribute, and each one of us is special in the eyes of God our Creator. God has given to us as human beings, a very special gift. It is a gift of love. A gift in making us, in making us like Himself. But also, in giving us His very own son, the Lord Jesus.
Walter Scott is credited with saying, "True love is the gift which God hath given to man alone beneath the heavens - true love." Yes, God loves all of His creation as He showed when He looked at the things He had created each day and said "It is good, It is good;" until the sixth day when He created man, and he looked at man and He said, "It is VERY good." You, my friend, are special in the eyes of God because you are His creation.
In Psalm 8 David writes about this and He said, "O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, You who set Your glory above the heavens!" And it goes on then to say in verses 3-4, "When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man, that You are mindful of him?" David is just overwhelmed with the fact that in light of the WHOLE creation - moon, sun, stars - and he said God, and you are still mindful of man? You still care? But David is so excited about that. He says: "Lord, you have made him a little lower than the angels and have crowned him with glory and honor. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands and put all things under his feet - the sheep, the oxen, the beasts of the field, the fowl of the air, the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passes through the paths of the sea. Oh Lord, Our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth."
He just looked at all creation and said "God it is AMAZING to me that in all of this you have made me the most special and put all things under our dominion."
In Psalm 139:14 David writes how fearfully and wonderfully he was made. Yes, friend we are special because we are God's creation. And, when you begin to think you don't matter to anyone else, please remember you MATTER to Him - you are precious in His sight!
