There'll Be No Dark Valley
By William O. Cushing, 1823-1902
And, behold I come quickly and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
-Revelation 22:12
There’ll be no dark valley when Jesus comes,
There’ll be no dark valley when Jesus comes;
There’ll be no dark valley when Jesus comes
To gather His loved ones home.
To gather His loved ones home.
To gather His loved ones home;
There’ll be no dark valley when Jesus comes
To gather His loved ones home.
There’ll be no more sorrow when Jesus comes,
There’ll be no more sorrow when Jesus comes;
But a glorious morrow when Jesus comes
To gather His loved ones home.
To gather His loved ones home.
To gather His loved ones home;
There’ll be no dark valley when Jesus comes
To gather His loved ones home.
There’ll be no more weeping when Jesus comes,
There’ll be no more weeping when Jesus comes;
But a blessed reaping when Jesus comes
To gather His loved ones home.
To gather His loved ones home.
To gather His loved ones home;
There’ll be no dark valley when Jesus comes
To gather His loved ones home.
There’ll be songs of greeting when Jesus comes,
There’ll be songs of greeting when Jesus comes;
And a joyful meeting when Jesus comes
To gather His loved ones home.
To gather His loved ones home.
To gather His loved ones home;
There’ll be no dark valley when Jesus comes
To gather His loved ones home.
In almost all of his hymns, William O. Cushing expresses the idea that God will gather to Himself those who love and trust Him. There, in that closeness with the Savior, the believer finds safety and peace.
