PSALM 103:11
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him.

If you were to go outside, stand still and look straight up, you’d see something beautiful – the sky!  That’s nothing new since it’s been there all your life, but have you ever looked at it and wondered how high is it?  How far does it go?  How could we ever measure it?  Science now tells us that sky seems to go into infinity–on beyond anything we can imagine or measure!

Psalm 103:11 tells us that God’s mercy toward those who love Him is like the sky—far greater than you and I can imagine or measure.  It just goes on and on and on.  There is no end or limit to how much loving-kindness He showers upon us each day.

As you recall what God has done in your life, no doubt you’ll remember times of tremendous blessing and great joy, so you can thank God for those times.  But then there have been, and may be even now, intense difficulties and times when it seems that God is nowhere to be found.  Let me assure you that He is working behind the scenes even when you can’t see or feel it.  When things seem cloudy and you look up to see His goodness, but can’t seem to find it, God is working for your good and His glory.  He is extending mercy that goes beyond what you and I can imagine or measure.  Sooner or later the clouds will part and you will see precisely the benefits that He allowed to come your way, and the protection He provided during those difficult times.

I encourage you to go outside today, stand still, look straight up to the infinite sky, and let it remind you of God’s mercy.  Rejoice with the Psalmist who wrote, “I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever:  with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations,” (Psalm 89:1).

Your generous mercy never ceases to amaze me, Father.  Thank You for holding back the hand of evil and showering me with Your goodness and protection each day.
