Sitting down to a good cup of tea is one of my favorite things to do. I guess that’s why over the years my friends and family have blessed me by giving me a wide variety of beautiful teacups and saucers, and teapots for special occasions. Each one is different and each one is treasured because of the person it came from.

Today I’m enjoying tea from my newest tea set—a dainty cup, saucer and teapot that I received for Christmas. The thing that makes this one so special is that around the edge of each piece are the words, “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. (NIV)” Every time I drink from it, I think of the goodness of my Heavenly Father and I can’t help but praise Him.

It’s good to recall the blessings God gives to us each day, both big and small. Health, strength, financial and material provisions even in hard times, warm relationships . . . your list is different than mine, I’m sure, but we’ve all been blessed. Let’s take the time to slow down, recognize and thank God for His many gifts—especially for the blessings of His presence and wisdom from His Word.  Meditating on these makes a good day even better, and lifts a bad day from the pits.

Lord, thank You for this special little tea set, and for the wonderful friend who gave it to me.
