A Light for My Path Devotional

Face to Face

REVELATION 22:3-4 (KJV)
And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in [the city], and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their forehead.

The view from the airplane was spectacular!  Flying at around 30,000 feet above the earth, fields of green, and gold, and brown below pressed tightly one against another reminding me of the colorful squares in my grandmother’s patchwork quilt.  In all directions, the mid-western plains stretched as far as my eyes could see with only an occasional city interrupting the flow of rich farmland.

What a magnificent sight it was, but it could not come close to the beauty of the faces that awaited me at my destination.  The smiles of my daughter and her four children made the whole trip worthwhile.  My heart rejoiced as we walked hand in hand to the car and headed toward their home.

Nothing compares to the joy of seeing someone you love face to face!  I cannot imagine how thrilling it will be to arrive in Heaven, our eternal home, and finally see the face of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Carrie E. Breck captured those thoughts in her beautiful hymn:

Face to Face
Face to face with Christ my Savior, face to face–what will it be–
When with rapture I behold Him, Jesus Christ who died for me?
Face to face I shall behold Him, far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by!

Only faintly now I see Him, with the darkened veil between,
But a blessed day is coming when His glory shall be seen.
Face to face I shall behold Him, far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by!

What rejoicing in His presence when are banished grief and pain,
When the crooked ways are straightened and the dark things shall be plain.
Face to face I shall behold Him, far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by!

Face to face! O blissful moment! Face to face, to see and know;
Face to face with my Redeemer, Jesus Christ who loves me so.
Face to face I shall behold Him, far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by!

Lord Jesus, thank You for the joy that awaits me on the day that I arrive at my final destination and see You face to face.

    I’m looking for a vocal rendition of this hymn (Face to Face). Do you know where I can find this on CD? It was my mother’s favorite hymn and I’d like to have it. I have only found it on a Tennessee Ernie Ford CD but I’d like to get a different rendition. I’ve heard several beautiful choirs and individual artists sing this on YouTube, but they aren’t on CD’s I can purchase. I’d appreciate any help you can give me.

    Thank you.

    Blessings,
    Carolyn

    I’m sorry, Carolyn, but I can’t help you with that. You may be able to do an Internet search and come up with something.

    God bless,
    Ann
